INDICES OF TRUE LOVE

• True love is an act, when you have it, it naturally flow out of you, you wouldn't struggle to express it.


1 John 3:16-18. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? (Verse 18) Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.


1) Love is not theoritical but practical in expression. 


• When truth is absent in love, it becomes a mere word. Therefore a  genuine love must be backup by sacrificial giving: The giving of your time, your money, your ideas, your encouragement. etc. John 3:16


1 King 3:3. And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.


2) Forgiveness is birthed out of pure love. 


“Pro.17:9. Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.” “Hatred stirs old quarrels, but love overlooks insults.


• "Where there no genuine love, there can't be forgiveness and where there is no forgiveness, love fails."


3) Love is the driving force of faith.


 Gal.5:6.(YLT) For, in Christ [Jesus], neither, circumcision, availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith, through love, energising. 


• When we struggle to believe on God's promises for us to come to pass, it's called unbelief but when we focus on the love of God for us and build a stronger intimacy with Him, naturally faith work.


• Where there is scarcity of love, faith can't perform.


• Love never fails, fade and it never expired.


 1Cor 13: 8. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they shall pass away; whether there are tongues, they shall cease; whether there is knowledge, it shall pass away.


Prayer.


Lord grant me the sagacity or insight of your true love and give me the grace to deepen my love for you and for my neighbors in Jesus name.
