THE TWO  FISHERMEN By Abenga Janet  🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈 There were two fishermen who where close pals. They used to catch fish together on weekends. Since they were busy in their personal work and family , they hardly spend time together.  It was a Saturday and they decided to drive to a nearby pond to enjoy  their day in fishing. The Law of Unintended Consequences

Image
The Law of Unintended Consequence By Mark Manson 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥   We’re talking about 1) the law of unintended consequences, 2) meta-feelings and being ashamed of shame 3) a 2020  mental health update.  Let’s get into it.  1. The law  of Unintended Consequences - Long-time MFM  readers will remember that when I kicked this newsletter  off last year, one of the first things I wrote about was something I called “The Nuclear  Power Effect.” I described it as a situation where the “solution” to something really scary is subtly more damaging than the scary thing itself. In the case of nuclear power, it turns out that shutting down reactors increases reliance on fossil fuels which actually harms and kills far more people than any nuclear meltdown ever would (not to mention, it fucks the environment).  Back  in those halcyon days of the newsletter (ah, we were so young and innocent then, weren’t we?) I asked readers for more examples of this...

FAILURE IS NEEDED FOR GROWTH

Image
*FAILURE IS NEEDED FOR GROWTH.*  From Commonwealth 🚒🚑🚒🚑🚑 I started my scholarship application journey in 2018. Having graduated with a first class and being the overall best graduating student in my faculty, with distinctions in all my professional courses, I thought that winning a scholarship would be a walk in the park. I had never failed before, and I never thought failure would ever know my name.  I applied for 5 Scholarships in 2018: _ 2 Commonwealth Shared Scholarships at University of Leeds and Glasgow,   _ Gates  Cambridge Scholarship at the University of Cambridge _ Forward Bound Scholarship at the University of Brighton _Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at UBC I was rejected at all except University of Glasgow where I was a reserve. I waited and waited for an upgrade which never came. For the first time in my life I felt like a failure. I happened to be in a Whatsapp group of Commonwealth scholars, some of who shared their stories of how they h...

ARE YOU COMPLAINING?

Image
ARE YOU COMPLAINING? Written By Mrs Grace Obialor,  Works @Radio Nigeria (FRCN)  👒🎓👟👞 When situations get tougher as they are now, what do you do? Do you resolve in grumbling and murmuring? No, they have never helped. When you grumble, it shows that your heart has departed from the Lord and you are no longer trusting him. Quicken your faith through reading the word of of God. 1st Peter 5:7- is encouraging us to cast all our cares upon HIM for HE cares for us. Psalm 55:22 - when you cast your cares and burdens upon the Lord HE shall sustain you. I encourage you to never give up but rather keep on declaring that the Lord is your  portion and keep believing that HE has the solution to all these situations. WE MUST CONQUER in Jesus Mighty Name, AMEN.

Hi Friend , Writter :John Paul  Stay strong plus some good advice  🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄 But before I go ahead, I would like to shout out to all my students and followers in Nigeria. I hope you and everyone you love is safe. For me, it’s been a rough week  over here in Lagos . After days of protests, a curfew is now in place, the situation is calmer, and we’re hoping life can return to normal very soon. Some businesses have taken some big hits and heavy losses. And the road to recovery will be long and tough. Nevertheless, here’s my advice : Every crisis comes with problems, but they also present opportunities for learning, growth, and progress. If you keep your mind open, something bigger and better will rise from the ashes of your misfortune. And if you’re looking for helpful advice to keep your spirits up, I have something for you. This year, I recorded two valuable episodes for entrepreneurs who are going through hard times. You will find the links to both episodes somewhere a...
