THINGS YOU MUST AVOID AS A POSITIVE INFLUENCER

THINGS YOU MUST AVOID AS A POSITIVE INFLUENCER

Written By Grace Dafierechi

1. FOLLOWING THE CROWD

On Monday while i was about entering a classroom to teach, A pupil from another class met me and excused me.

She asked me a question? Ma', Is it possible for the teachers in this School to be like you? Although you're A Part-time teacher, but you're so different.

I asked her how? She said; Ma' "You teach with passion. You value us. You always encourage us and you want us to do well etc...

The point I'm driving at is that no one achieves Great things by following the crowd.

Those who follow the crowd will get lost in the crowd. Until you stand out you cannot be outstanding.

While growing up as A Teenager, I learnt that; "Champions don't live like Amateurs; their lives are regulated by principles."

I took a decision to live differently. Talk differently. Act differently. I decided to focus on my focus, so I can be a focus in my Generation.

I did not allow my environment to condition my mentality. I totally depended on God as my Source, Supplier and Sustainer.

Even when things were difficult, tough and hard, I refused to sacrifice my morality on the altar of compromise.

I said NO to all the vices just as Esther said; "If I perish I perish."

It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.

Stop trying to fit in when you were born to stand out.

A man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd.

Those who follow the crowd will never be followed by the crowd.

Be willing to pay the price of standing out in no distant time, you'll be outstanding.

The world will stand at attention for a man who knows where he is going and decided to be different from the crowd.

Until you are different you cannot make a difference.

2. DISTRACTIONS.

Distractions are side attraction seeking your attention to keep your destiny in detention.

A girl aged 22 graduated as the overall Best Graduating Student. After the convocation ceremony, during the interview session, she was asked, what's the secret of her Success.

She said; "I never had a boyfriend from year one till final year and I didn't engaged in any emotional dating relationship. I never allowed the fraities of Social Media to distract me. I decided to focus on the reason why I am here."

As at today, she's married with three lovely children and she's doing very well; working in diaspora as an Electrical Electronics Engineer.

Distraction is a series of events or anything that makes one lose focus or diverts attention.

A distraction is not a distraction unless you pay attention to it.

Distraction can be deadly. An addiction to distraction can destroy your Creativity and  productivity.

You can't do Big things if you're distracted by small things. Starve your distraction and feed your focus.

Every great waste of time begins with a small distractions.

The worst use of life is busy doing something that need not to be done at all.

Avoid unnecessary discussion, aimless roaming, internet/social media addictions, long hours watching television, fatigue, mental instability, having no plan for a daily activities, tension and worrying etc.

Eliminate all forms of distraction and focus on things that add value to your life. You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.

Focus is the ability to eliminate distractions and be totally commited to an objective.

If you fail to reach your goal, it is because somewhere along the way your focus was broken.

YOU ARE EASILY DISTRACTED;

1. When you don't have plan for your life and time.

2. When you Constantly Major on minors.

3. When you're full of excuses and procrastination.

4. When you closely associate with Time wasters.

5. When you don't know how to say 'NO' and you live your life trying to please everyone.

There will always be distractions, if only you don't permit them and never complain about what you permit.

When you know better you do better.

Say No to Internal and External Distractions.

3. EXCUSES

Did you know that Ninety-nine percent of failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses?

The origin of every excuse is the failure to do something.

In Life when you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient but When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses - only results.

Winners make commitments, losers make excuses.

Excuses have the capacity to exclude you from the list of Successful people and include you in the list of failures?

Excuses are the nails used to build the house of failure.

An excuse is a good reason for a bad result.

An excuse is nothing more than a self-imposed roadblock.

Excuses are the false reasons that hold people back from taking action. And Action is key.

Save the excuses. it’s not about having time. It’s about making time. If it is important to you you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Excuses will always be there for you. Opportunities won't.

You can have results or excuses, not both. You can make progress or make excuses, not both.

Don’t make excuses. Make things happen. Make changes. Then make history.
