NEVER DOUBT IN THE DARK WHAT YOU WERE TOLD IN THE LIGHT

NEVER DOUBT IN THE DARK WHAT YOU WERE TOLD IN THE LIGHT.

On a sunny noon, a misunderstanding ensued between my two nieces as a result of their differences in the choice of cartoon channel. The older one wanted to see 'Elena of Avalor' on a particular channel. However, the craving of the younger was something different - 'Power Rangers'. While they argued, they were sobbing. Hence, I saw the need to intervene as a responsible big brother that I've always been, you know, right?

_

I got to know that their mom had instructed them against seeing Power Rangers during that period (the law must have been legislated due to the tendency of these kids to develop their dormant taekwando and boxing skills afterwards ). Since the younger one wouldn't stop crying, I urged the older one to sacrifice her want for her sister' in order to let peace rule. Surprisingly, she hesitated and kept insisting that 'my mom said we could see any other cartoon series on TV but this. That was the instruction.'

_

I had to devise a means to ensure that the instruction remains unbroken and stop the younger one from crying. The strategy worked and calmness was restored.

_

Via this peacemaking session, I got an experiential knowledge of that which led to the fall of man in the garden of Eden. My initial approach to the disagreement was sincere yet wrong. I was like 'C'mon, go ahead and see power rangers, girls. No one is going to tell your mum ... Did your mom really say that you must not see power rangers?'  I was questioning the instruction that originated from a higher authority!

_

By insisting that the channel be changed in order to suit the craving of the younger one, I realised I was passing a message of disobedience in a subtle and crafty manner to the kids. The seed of disobedience is rebellion. If I had ended up getting those kids to rebel against that specific instruction in their mind, it would have been very easy to disobey subsequent instructions. My action had a sort of serpent-esque look to it. Quite similar to the question the serpent asked Eve 'Did God really say …?'

_

'You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil' and 'You may freely see any cartoon channel on TV except this particular one'. Similar scenarios with different personalities, right?

How easy it is to doubt what we were once sure that God told us. How easy it is to doubt the things we were once persuaded of. In any circumstance of life, do not doubt what God had once told you. Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light.

As you engage His speakings, choose to set your face like a flint and discard any form of distraction wrapped inside an opportunity that appears 'good'. Do not take your eyes off the ball.

There's nothing wrong with having a humble beginning but everything is wrong with having no beginning at all … At the end, it shall yet speak.

Cheers to your great becoming!
