By now you're wondering what I want to talk about, if you must know, then keep reading.
.
.
Mike had always asked to talk with me but I had been busy with different things. Again, he called me for the same reason but this time, I couldn't give any excuse because his voice emitted worries.
.
.
I invited him over to the house. Usually, he would take so much time to show up, but that day was different. He staggered through the door and whiffed of alcohol. He appeared worn-out, like he'd spent the entire day molding blocks. Unlike some guys I know, he barely resorts to alcohol in his most trying times, so his present state was unusual.
.
.
I offered a sit to him and a glass of water to cool off as I struggled to conceal my disappointment.
.
.
"Why are you like this," I asked, piercing my face on his. The look on his face made me remember those moment I stood before the Catholic priest to confess my sin.
.
.
He stretched his hands towards me, in a slow motion, like he needed more energy to stay alive. I nabbed the phone off his hands and read the mail he asked me too
.
.
I couldn't believe it. His girlfriend, Sandra, left him for another man, on the ground that he's too upright. She didn't like it. she wanted someone with some vices. In previous messages, she suggested, smoking and clubbing to him, but Mike objected it because of the negative effects it has on health.
.
.
Sandra was creafully created. The first time I met her, I kept stealing glance at her. Perhaps, that's the reason Mike is glued to her.
.
.
I hefted my head towards him, he looked pretty well as one in so much trouble.
.
.
Several thoughts squirmed into my mind and all I cared for was to snap him out of that mood. Mike had been my childhood friend, we share so much memories together, seeing him like this, made me worried.
.
.
"You will be alright, I said. You have a good personality and nothing should change that and you shouldn't allow anyone influence you negatively for their any reason..."
I spoke at lenght to him and I was glad he found my words vital.
Sometimes we need that friend that would hold us in our trying moment. Those kind of friends that would look us in the face and point out our wrongs. The kind of people that will remind us who we are, if we begin to deviate wrongly.
.
.
Secondly, we need to avoid people who influence us negatively.
Many of our actions are functions of family, friends, environment, and People we hang out with. People around us can make us take higher risks, become more caring, develop certain vices, get an addiction, or act in a way that doesn't correlate with our original behavior.
Some people come into our lives to influence it negatively. Although, this might not be intentional, but the point is, mark such people and avoid them
Remember, evil communication corrupts good manner.
Your relationship should build and not subtract from your virtue.
Come to think of it, what do women really want
I can't stop thinking of Sandra's choice of men. How can a lady refuse an upright man for the opposite?
I'll kindly drop my pen here for time sake.
Thanks for reading through, hope you got value?
