The MindSet Behind The Great Mind

Great mindsets are like keys that can suddenly unlock a turning point in your life.

During the toughest struggles in your life, have you ever felt that "if only you were smarter" or "more capable" things wouldn't be so difficult?

Do you ever compare yourself to the role models in your life who somehow have this amazing mental capacity... and wonder if it's even possible to be at their level?

Well, I've been there, too! You can say I was obsessed with upgrading my brain power during the early days of Lifehack.

Since then, I've ended up with some important insights I want to share with you now.

The first is about what brain power really means.

It's easy to think that having more brain power just means your brain can "do more stuff", or "think faster", or "remember everything".  I found out the hard way that it doesn't!

Instead, having real brain power is actually about upgrading your mind.

Because the concept of your mind includes more than just your brain. You can think of it like this: Your brain is the hardware, while your mind is the software that actually runs the show.

We can't really upgrade our brains per se --- I mean, you can't really make your brain physically bigger or change its composition, can you? But, you can mostdefinitely upgrade your mind!

So the only way to increase your "brain power"... is to focus on cultivating your mind.
And, upgrading your mind simply means upgrading your thinking patterns.

Your thinking patterns govern how you process different situations, make decisions about them, and take actions.

This means that all the struggles of being constrained by your mental capacity or brain power are all illusions. Because all it takes to break through your limitations is to systematically change the thinking patterns that limit you now.

To do so, step back and get a big picture view.

Most people are barely aware of the thinking patterns that run subconsciously, and, consequently, end up running on autopilot; this governs every decision and action they take.

It's important to see just how broadly thinking patterns influence every aspect of your life.

Believe it or not, if you can develop strong thinking patterns, your mind can become incredibly powerful.

Cheers,

Leon
