In very a simple term, leadership simply refers to the capacity of someone to lead or a status of a leader. It's the ability to identify a course of action (vision or goal) and the means to achieve it; as well as the willingness to mobilize and commit the requisite resources and strategies, while summing strong to finish rewardingly.
.
.
In a generalized context it refers to the ability to inspire and influence a group of people to achieve a worthwhile goals.
.
.
However, one of the most abused subject of this present age is leadership, and very worrisome is that almost everything we do in life requires and or revolves around leadership.
.
.
No wonder leadership is the most highly sought after capital of the present generation. It's important to note therefore, that the main critical reason some leaders aren't leading well is because they were unable to gain mastery of leading themselves very desirably. I said this to say that the first dimension of leadership is "intra-personal or self leadership".
The word "intra-personal or self leadership" simply refers to the ability of individual to inspire and influence oneself to be able to acknowledge and understand the most important things in life, thereby convert them into worthwhile vision, dream and goals, while also summing up strong to mibilize the right resource and strategies to achieve them.
.
.
The bane of good leadership in this present generation is the misconception of usually likening leadership to politics only. This is in addition to the fact that the vast majority of people who couldn't lead themselves in line with the most significant visions, values and virtue somehow navigated their way into leading large groups.
.
.
It is therefore notably important to acknowledge that leadership cut across personal, family, institutional and societal dimensions and or domains. Amidst these levels of leadership, note that the most powerful dimension is self or personal leadership.
.
.
It follows therefore to say that no one has ever or can ever give what he or she doesn't have. Thus, anyone who can not or lacks the leadership capital to lead oneself right in the direction of the right course of life, especially, observing a rewarding great visions, values and veritable standards will definitely not lead either his or her family well and will abuse the powers to lead a larger group if given opportunity of leadership.
.
.
In this regards, it's very important to begin to build yourself to acquire the right leadership skill set and embrace a redefined mental setting to train and prepare yourself enough to lead yourself, family, institution and or at a secular level.
Have a great and rewarding day!
