The necessity of vision and meaning of it.
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: HABAKKUK 2:1-3
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF VISION
By: Dr. Paul Enenche
SERVICE OBJECTIVE: To understand why possessing vision is important to life
The absence of vision can be equal to the wastage of life (Prov. 29:18)
WHAT IS VISION?
1. Vision is insight into God’s purpose for a person’s life (Jer. 1:5)
It is accessing the mind of God for life’s purpose
2. Vision is access to God’s original intention for a person’s creation (Rom. 8:28)
3. Vision is the mental picture of a desirable future (Gen. 13:14-15)
Vision is the internal photograph of the future reality
4. Vision is the internal imagination of life’s destination (Eph. 3:20)
It is an inner conscious definition of life’s destination
NECESSITY OF VISION:
1. Vision brings focus to life’s pursuit thus helping to avoid the trap of distraction (Phil. 3:13-14; 1Cor. 9:26)
When you are easily distracted, vision is lacking
2. Vision brings action to life (Hab. 2:2)
It delivers from the spell of idleness, indolence and laxity in life
People of vision are movers
When you live on focus, your life burden is eliminated
3. Vision averts the tragedy of wasted time (Eph. 5:15-16)
Vision helps you direct time because time not directed is time wasted
Time becomes useful when you live on vision
4. Vision brings discipline to life (Prov. 29:18ASV)
Vision not only defines where you are going in life, it also defines what you are to do to get there
Vision disciplines your actions in life
5. Vision defines association (Prov. 27:17)
What you are out to achieve in life determines who can have an allocation of space in your life
Vision implies that when a man headed in a direction, there is no basis of connection with someone not heading in the same direction
Vision tames your association
If you know where you are going to, it is not everybody you can marry
Be careful with opportunities like this
WHAT IT TAKES FOR VISION TO HAVE EARTHLY SIGNIFICANCE AND ETERNAL REWARD:
1. The vision must be God-originated and God-honouring (Hab. 2:1)
2. The vision must be people-oriented, beyond selfish dreams and fantasies
Living beyond yourself is what vision entails
When impact is made, income is natural
If you are the pipe that carries water for people to drink, you can never run dry.
PRAYERS
Father thank You for Your Word, I receive the grace to live a life of vision that originates from You and will impact my generation; vision that will bring purpose and focus to my life, vision that will bring action to my life, deliver me from the tragedy of wasted time, bring discipline to my life, connect me with the right association and deliver me from the wrong relationship. I receive the impartation of this vision, Lord in Jesus’ Name
